DOWNTOWN SPOTLIGHT
Located on the main drag of Downtown Olympia, Pizzeria La Gitana is nestled in between fellow businesses offering you a whimsical feel; as if you've stepped into Italy. It has been nicknamed, "The Best Pizza Outside Of Italy" and for good reason. The owners, from Romania, know a thing or two about authentic European taste. They choose to use only the finest, most organic ingredients and don't even bother looking for a regular oven, they only make their famous pies in a woodfire brick oven.
Their exceptionally tasty cuisine and equally matching staff make this eatery one for the books. No wonder they have won multiple awards celebrating their one-of-a-kind feel and pizza. So grab your coat and a big appetite, and head down to La Gitana. Wait, first, you better make a reservation. They are a very popular spot and fill up fast, but trust us, the wait to ensure a table is available is beyond worth it.
Compass Rose, a true gem in the heart of Downtown. Since 1998 they have been offering all things Pacific Northwest inspired but with a chic twist. From curated collections, cookbooks, locally crafted pieces, and more; the Compass Rose has the exact item you are looking for. They boast color-coordinated shelves, and themes to please every eye and fill every gift on your list.
Maybe the most impressive thing about Compass Rose, aside from how stunning their shop is, is the fact that they donate around 10% of their profits to local organizations that are focused on community improvement and also international non-profits centered around diminishing poverty.
Make sure to pop into their other local stop, Captain Little. The best toyshop around, Capitain Littles and anything but little. This impressive shop is a child's dream and a place you have to put on the top of your list for not only visiting but making a traditional stop when exploring Downtown.
